After lengthy deliberations and negotiations, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) announced late on Tuesday their agreement to form a coalition government in Pakistan. This decision came following the absence of a clear majority for any single party in the February 8 general election. Leaders from both parties emphasized that their collaboration aimed to serve the best interests of the nation.

At a press conference in Islamabad, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, accompanied by senior leaders from both parties, declared that the PPP and PML-N now possessed sufficient seats to establish the next government. The outcome of the February 8 polls revealed a fragmented political landscape, with the PTI-backed independent candidates securing the highest number of National Assembly seats (92), followed by the PML-N (79) and the PPP (54).

Despite the initial uncertainty, the PPP and PML-N's alliance was solidified, with plans for Shehbaz Sharif to assume the role of prime minister and Asif Ali Zardari as the joint candidate for the presidency, representing both parties. Bilawal expressed confidence that their coalition would address the nation's pressing issues and deliver tangible results.

Regarding the allocation of roles within the government, Bilawal disclosed that decisions had been reached through consensus during meetings between the two parties. He highlighted the efficiency of their coalition-building process compared to previous instances, emphasizing the importance of swift decision-making for effective governance.

Zardari underscored their shared commitment to Pakistan's prosperity, emphasizing that their efforts were directed towards securing a better future for the country and its upcoming generations. Shehbaz Sharif echoed these sentiments, expressing gratitude to Bilawal and Zardari for their collaboration. He affirmed their determination to tackle economic challenges and combat terrorism, outlining their vision for revitalizing the economy and fostering development across various sectors such as agriculture and industry.

Moreover, Shehbaz extended appreciation to allied parties, including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, who pledged their support to the coalition government. He assured the public that their administration would prioritize economic stability and prosperity, emphasizing the significance of finding common ground for effective governance.
